National Nuclear Security Administration Plant

The enormous new complex will house the National Nuclear Security Administration and support manufacturing of non-nuclear components for nuclear weapons and refurbishing the existing nuclear arsenal. The three-year project includes approximately 1.2 million square feet of manufacturing space and 400,000 square feet of office space.
The manufacturing areas include:
- Machining and mechanical assembly
- Electrical fabrication and assembly
- Paint and heat-treat processes
- Chemical research and testing laboratories
- Physical test cells and laboratories
The system requirements include:
- 9,000-ton central chilled water plant
- 130-million BTU/h heating water plant
- Central air compressors with distribution piping
- Approximately 200 air-handling units
- Clean steam humidification systems
- Process water and industrial waste distribution
- Industrial waste treatment
- Process gas distribution including argon, helium, gaseous and liquid nitrogen, carbon dioxide, natural gas, reverse osmosis and deionized water systems
- High purity gas filters and distribution piping
- Variable air supply and exhaust systems throughout including laboratories
