Betz Laboratories, a producer of water treatment chemicals, chose Cheyenne, Wyo., as the location for this grassroots chemical blending facility. In essence, it is a mini chemical plant with corrosion-resistant tanks, piping and process vessels. The building was a structural steel frame with several interstitial levels for process equipment operation and maintenance access. Plant operation offices, test laboratory, maintenance shops and warehouse were housed within the building.
A unique element of this facility was the extensive amount of stainless steel application in piping and equipment. All piping 4 inces and under was welded with orbital (fusion welding) machines. Our work included setting of all specialty equipment as well as common mechanical equipment for pumping, heating and cooling, and plumbing applications.
