Based on both pricing and qualifications, U.S. Engineering was selected as the mechanical team member to help Cerner Corporation, Burr Computer Environments and JE Dunn Construction build a new World Headquarters Data Center in Kansas City, Mo. The new building houses three separate computer rooms served from four electrical rooms and a 1,400-ton chilled water plant. Thirty-six CRAC units were provided to condition the computer rooms and electrical rooms, and a complete fuel oil storage and piping system were provided for eight backup electrical generators.
The building also houses a significant amount of office space. Ten air-handling units were provided to condition the office areas and offer required ventilation and humidification to the computer rooms.
U.S. Engineering coordinated, detailed and fabricated much of the piping systems off site in the company's local fabrication shop. This process provided a high level of quality while assuring systems were installed on schedule.
