Colorado Construction Career Days

cccd-01

U.S. Engineering Company's Colorado region once again participated in Construction Career Days at the Adam's County Fairgrounds on October 5th and 6th, 2010.

cccd-02Career Days has a tradeshow-type atmosphere giving 1,500+ high school students from over 35 school districts a glimpse into the diversity of the construction industry. Students are assigned a group leader (a construction industry volunteer) and are encouraged to participate at each station which features a specialty contractor, trade or craft.

U.S. Engineering Company's involvement this year included a booth designed to help students learn about both the office side and field side of mechanical contracting. The students were first introduced to how the 3D coordination process works through a video and then they learned how to create a fab sheet using AutoCAD.

Using the drawing as a reference, the students then built the piping assembly out of copper pipe and Victaulic fittings and couplings.

The U.S. Engineering Company station was well received by students, chaperones, group leaders and fellow industry professionals. The event was a success and this is due to the hard work and volunteer efforts of: Baird Cook (Project Manager), Carl Ciacci (Project Engineer), Tony Italiano (Safety Coordinator), Bobby Lang (Sheet Metal Detailer), Mike Parker (Project Manager), Tyson Petersen (Plumbing Detailer), and Sean Wyatt (Plumber, General Foreman).
